Send Some Postal Love: The millergrey Christmas Card Edit

A few weeks ago I asked everyone over on Instagram to answer some questions relating to how they’re planning on approaching Christmas this year. You might have seen last month I laid out how I intend on it being the best Christmas ever, and largely, you all seem to agree. One of the questions …

It finally feels like spring has sprung. It finally feels like spring has sprung.
Gifted / Yesterday I took an hour out of my day to Gifted / Yesterday I took an hour out of my day to try my hand at some ink illustration with Team @jomalonelondon to celebrate the latest #BrilliantBlossoms collection. You’ll notice I’m not sharing my ‘artwork’ here. Take from that what you will...
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
This year’s Blossoms collection transports us to the crystal waters of Hawaii, bringing with it two new fragrances; Yellow Hibiscus and Red Hibiscus.
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
Fun fact for you, the hibiscus flower has no absolute meaning a fragrance can’t actually be destined from it. Instead the perfumers created an enchanting summer vision of how these two epic blooms might smell in the heat of the Hawaiian sun. Yellow Hibiscus is rose petals with a twist of lime, whilst Red Hibiscus is Jasmine Sambac swirled with vanilla for warmth. They’re a far flung adventure in a bottle.
It’s weird to talk about money, but today was a It’s weird to talk about money, but today was a big day did me. For the first time in over 10 years I’m debt free. I worked my arse off last year on my content and put every penny I earned from my work here and freelancing into paying off the debt I’d foolishly let build since my time living in London.
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
I’ve also made my first deposit into my Help To Buy ISA. I’m a way off yet, but hopefully in the not too distant future I’ll be able to bore you all with tile choices and fireplace renovations.
I never thought I’d be so thankful to be told a I never thought I’d be so thankful to be told a hypothetical date I may be able to possibly sit inside somewhere that potentially isn’t my house and drink a cup of coffee.
I know from my DMs I’m not alone in feeling the I know from my DMs I’m not alone in feeling the immense anxiety that comes with the fact Monday lies on the other side of every Sunday. I’ve been trying to reset my way of doing things lately, I’ve talked about it a bit over on Stories. Each morning doesn’t start with a coffee at my desk and my inbox. There has to be something else to the day other than work and a computer screen.
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
Mine now start with a walk, followed by breakfast and coffee away from my desk. Then I head to my desk. It helps. If you’re struggling too, give it a go.
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
And Sundays, well they’re a bit different now too. I don’t spend my day shooting content anymore (you may or may not have noticed I don’t post to anywhere near the volume I once did as a result). Instead I spend it wandering around outside, followed by an afternoon of reading a magazine or watching an ITV drama on Netflix that appears to have passed me by.
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
As it starts to get dark, I go for a run, have a bath, cook something slow for dinner (tonight is a lentil hot pot), have a bath and then proceed to pile stuff on my face and channel my inner Gwyneth. And once it gets to 8pm, I leave my phone in my bedroom and settle down to watch something.
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
This caption ran away with me somewhat, I appreciate it’s been lengthy. Anyway, some of my Sunday favourites here. Only the @jomalonelondon bottle you see and the @johnlewis vase here was gifted, everything else was bought with the money I would have spent socialising. The @sundayrileyeurope is a particular dream.
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
To summarise. You’re f*cking important. Look after you.
In this current situation happiness really is just In this current situation happiness really is just not being plunged into darkness at 4pm. That and a bag of white chocolate Malteaser bunnies. Which my friends, are a game changer.
Pancakes again? Yes. Happy Pancake Day folk. Let’s all celebrate the one day a year you can call someone a tosser without repercussions.
Tomorrow’s the big day. This being 2021 you’ve Tomorrow’s the big day. This being 2021 you’ve got to take the pleasures where you can find them, so I say you deserve to go big.
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
Over the blog now you’ll find a recipe for these banana pancakes, complete with a sticky toffee sauce that will take no more than 5 minutes of your life and can be conjured up from just three ingredients. Together they deliver banoffee pie pancake goodness. You’re very welcome.
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
You’ll find the link in my bio and on my Stories right now. Enjoy.
Gift / You need not adjust your screen settings, t Gift / You need not adjust your screen settings, those are indeed colourful flowers you see in my home.
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
On Thursday morning the @johnlewispr Team were kind enough to invite me along to their virtual SS21 launch, which included a flower arranging workshop with @pollenet using spring blooms you’ll find available in your local @waitrose Look. They match my new colourful candle and everything.
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
I’m trying my best to stay motivated with different creative outlets as I’m convinced it’s good for the ol’ sanity in these times. Flower arranging, making paper poppies, cooking... Today I tried to make some little dishes out of clay. You’ll never see this little dishes however as it would appear I am most definitely not ceramically gifted. Not sure what my middle aged crafting self will try next. Mosaics? Knitting? Live, Laugh, Love sign making?
