For the past 7 years I’ve produced Christmas Gift Guides, generally splitting them into categories based on who the gifts might be for, or the type of personality the receiver may have. 2022 felt a little different, so I’ve gone another way for the first part of the guides. Money and the ultimate cost of Christmas is at the forefront for so many.

It doesn’t need to cost the earth and I do believe a great gift can come at any price point, if it’s thoughtful and well picked. Here you’ll find a selection of gifts at three different price levels – £50 & Under, £30 & Under and £20 & Under. There’ll be more guides to come – ones that perhaps follow my general style a little closer.

H&M have come through very, very strong this Christmas season. You’ll find quite a few pieces from their range in the guides. When it comes to price, they deliver, without sacrificing on their aesthetics. The two jumpers you’ll see here – Super Slouchy Knitwear Of Cosy Winter Dreams and this Beautifully Shaped Cream Knit are excellent gifts. Sisters, mums, girlfriends, I think they work. What the High Street has been great at lately is delivering Cashmere at great value. This Huge Ribbed Scarf is £39.99 and it’s appropriate – and useful – to just about anyone. 100% cashmere too. I have this and van vouch for its softness.

I generally call b*llshit on anyone telling me ‘they’re so hard to buy for’. They’re not. Just think. What do they do with their everyday and what do they like? Think about it then elevate something simple from it. Do they do Yoga or work out at home? Great, how about a Stella McCartney Yoga Mat at an amazing price. So they like coffee? What about an Espresso Martini Gift Set from Grind in a perfectly millennial pink box set?

Skincare is for me, always a great gift for someone who you perhaps don’t know too intimately – sister-in-law or brother’s girlfriend, etc. This amazing Cult Beauty set is just £35 – with a value of £155. Incredible.

I think as we get older we start to head down the route of ‘well, I don’t need anything’. My Grandma certainly has. Last year I bought her this Fig Plant. It comes delivered in a beautiful wooden crate with an explanation of how the Fig is actually used to symbolise the importance of family. The seller – here on Not On The High Street – actually has a number of different plants with meanings. You can even add an engraved slate marker to go with it.

You can get some great gifts for £30. Some of these you may recognise as they often feature. This beautiful Candle Votive Set from Plum & Ashby has three candles in it – Christmas Eve, Christmas Day and Boxing Day. I think it’s an incredibly sweet gift and they’ve always been super popular when I’ve mentioned them before.

These Barbour gloves that work with a touch screen phone are a bargain. That’s all. A Peanut Butter Selection Box from an independant British brand? Sold.

This wonderful sparkling wine is created on the Dorset coast. If they’re a wine lover, it’s a real treat for Christmas day.

I’m a huge fan of Papier, I’ve said it many times. Their huge range of diaries can be personalised – they’re a lovely thoughtful gift that doesn’t break the bank. You can also get meal planners, not pads and calendars from there too, all of which can be subtly and wonderfully personalised.

How cool is this Canvas Bakery? Another H&M wonder. It’s so fun. Kidswear and Kids Toys at that place are epic.

You all skipped straight down to this one, didn’t you? A £20 or less gift doesn’t need to be any less fun or any less excellent.

Heston’s Lazy Mandarin Negroni comes in bang on the £20 nose. It’s excellent. If they’re a Negroni fan, it’s a nice twist. Add a bottle of Prosecco maybe if you want to go down that TikTok trending route…

Liberty produce a range of £14 crackers each year. This Make Up one features two lovely products, but you can also get a hair care one and a skin care one. Each come with a Liberty Print Hat. They’re a lovely stocking filler.

Spoiler alert, I’ve bought this House Decoration for my brother and his family to go inside their Christmas card. You can customise the wreath to include the recipient’s names and the door number to be their’s. I thought it was really lovely, especially as it’s their first Christmas in their first home.

Socks. Look, socks and underwear are expensive. I’m happy to receive chic editions of them like this set for Christmas.

The Little People Big Dreams collection of books are vast, this Ru Paul one is excellent. Right now at TKMaxx you’ll find a load of them, for only £5.99. Speaking of little ones, these dressing gowns are amazing, they’re from a collaboration with Save The Children, so they also go towards helping do some good. I love the two colours – if you’ve got to buy for several kids in one family, I think these would be super fun.

A mug that says Shut Up? Here for it. And finally, these beautiful ribbed champagne saucers are absolutely a riff on the Ferm Living ones, but at less than half the price. They’re a lovely shape – deliver with them a bottle of fizz, or better yet, the fanciest Bucks Fizz you’ll ever see – Moet Spritz.
